Choosing a Functional and Stylish Laptop Bag

By

Introduction

If you have a laptop, especially a heavy one, you probably need a good way to carry it around without worrying about it getting damaged or dropped. After all, the whole point of a laptop is that it is a mobile computer. Since there are a lot of wi-fi hotspots these days, you will probably be carrying your bag a lot more than in the past. So you should look into purchasing a good laptop bag to carry your expensive laptop. There are a lot of laptop bags to choose from, and having gone through my fair share of them, I have some insights to share when it comes to picking out a laptop bag that meets all your requirements without taking up too much money. I hope you find this article useful and a little entertaining.

Basic Requirements of a Laptop Bag

The most important thing about a laptop bag is that it is big enough to hold your computer, without being so large that it gives room for your laptop to slide around and get bumped. Most laptops come in standard sizes, so this shouldn’t be a problem. Just make sure you check to see that you get the right size for your laptop. Many laptop bags contain padded sleeves for your laptop within a larger pocket, and some have a special padded pocket just for your computer. Sometimes, the sleeve is removable, which is very handy if you want to carry your bag without the laptop sometimes and save the extra weight.

Types of Laptop Bags

First, you should think about how you like to carry your things. I always preferred a laptop backpack, since that was how I carried my school books. This allowed me to carry more objects at a time, so I didn’t need an extra bag for my laptop in addition to my books. Once I got out of college, however, I found that I needed to carry far fewer items and a backpack was generally too large for just a laptop, so I opted for a shoulder bag instead. These are the two main types of laptop bags: a laptop backpack and a messenger-style shoulder bag. Another common option is a padded laptop sleeve. These sometimes come with a light shoulder strap, though be careful because they are not designed to take much abuse.

Picking Your Laptop Bag

The best way to pick a good laptop bag is to pay attention to how and where you use your laptop. If you tend to walk from place to place, then sit at one location for a prolonged period to work, a laptop backpack might be more appropriate for you, since it is more difficult to access quickly but easy to carry long distances. If, instead, you tend to pack up quickly and hop from place to place, working as you go, a more accessible shoulder bag might be more useful. If you only carry your laptop with you occasionally, you don’t need to get a bag with a dedicated sleeve. You can simply get a separate laptop sleeve and carry it in your bag like any other book.

The Secret to Stylish Laptop Carrying

The trick to keeping your laptop bag stylish is to understand that you can get a separate padded sleeve for your laptop and then carry that in whatever bag you want. That way, you can buy a stylish, comfortable bag without having to worry whether it have a compartment for a laptop or not. Since a really nice bag that also has a laptop sleeve will be much more expensive than one without, this is a clever way to save some money as well while still looking good. Nobody needs to know your laptop sleeve is removable.
